Hi, I’m Anna.
I spent the bulk of my twenties in New York City searching for my purpose and my husband. I changed jobs as frequently as I changed my dating app profile. Along the way, I made some great girlfriends, made lots of bad decisions, and danced in many nightclubs with strangers who will never remember my name (and vice versa, to be fair).
Two years ago at the height of the pandemic, I started a home decor blog called the ipsee, which was a play on words for the town that my parents and I first lived in. It didn’t take me long to realize that there was a much bigger brand out there already using a version of this name, and so maybe both was born.
I’ve always existed, like many children of immigrants, in the “in-between” – too American to be considered Chinese, but too Chinese to be considered American. It wasn’t until recently that I realized that being “in-between” or “both of something” is an identity unto itself. I started maybe both as an homage to being both Chinese and American, but also to the notion that women can be more than just one thing. We can be forgiving and vindictive, open-minded and opinionated, and love our Target just as much as our Chanel.
Over the last two years, maybe both has grown from a home decor blog, to a fashion blog, to what I hope will now be a safe space for those of you who have found me on TikTok or Instagram to write to me in longer form, so that I can address all those wonderful and horrible feelings you have around dating in more than 100 characters.
Thank you for being here and cheers – to the messy multitudes that lie within us and to being #maybeboth.
Love,
Your internet hype woman
