Working with what you’ve got could be the theme of this blog and really, my life. So, I decided to challenge myself this Christmas by designing a tablescape with (almost) only things I already own. I realize that owning gold-rimmed glassware and twine pears is probably a stretch for “working with what you’ve got” (what, you mean, you don’t spend your free time hot gluing twine onto old lightbulbs?), but nonetheless, the point is I dragged very few new items in for this setup.
You’ll recognize many of the same pieces from my Fall Tablescape, but, with the addition of items I used in other areas of the house. However, let’s first dig into where I cheated: the green centerpiece.

It was all of $16.99 from HomeGoods and I have no regrets because life is for living, ya know? The other greenery on the table includes the Magnolia Leaves Garland that I used on our fireplace mantle. It’s probably one my favorite finds at Target because it’s so versatile and I plan on incorporating it somewhere into the house after the holidays are over.
Other items that I recycled from our fireplace mantle include the Gold Candlestick Holders san candles. The hurricanes provide enough candle drama on the table and I really love how the candlestick holders look on their own to bring some height and glamour, so here they are in all their shiny glory.
I loved this wired ribbon on our Christmas tree so much that I had to figure out a way to incorporate it into our table. I ended up using two long strips of the ribbon as mini-table runners. Now my Christmas table matches with my Christmas tree and somehow that makes life a little better.

While pears are not on the menu for Christmas dinner, they add a nice decorative touch pre-chowdown. Make the pears yourself following my DIY Twine Pears tutorial, and then use a coaster laid on top of a paper towel (for hygiene!) to add some pizzazz to a plain white plate.

Other things on the table that I already own and you can own too:
Natural Jute Braid Charger: $5.99/each
Gold Highball Glass Set: $20.97/set of 6
Porcelain Oval Dinner Plate: $1.98/each
Large Wood Cutting Board: $47.99
Rose Gold Cutlery: $22.49
And last, but not least, because we just got engaged and because I will find any reason to drink champagne…our gold ice bucket housing a bottle of Veuve Cliquot from our wonderful neighbors.
So here’s to mostly the old, a little of the new, and to hopefully the last Christmas dinner where the term “socially distanced” is in our vernacular.
