I’ve really had to up my coat collection this winter due to the fact that Dave and I are still braving the New England winter for outdoor dining. Heat lamps are obviously a huge part of this equation, but I’ve found that I’ve paid much more attention to my outerwear this season since I keep it on all throughout dinner now, as opposed to just walking in the door. It’s almost a moot point if I decide to wear a sweatshirt to dinner as long as my coat looks chic.
Case in point: we have a dinner reservation tonight in New Canaan for outdoor dining. Our friends (who have socially distanced and been tested!) are coming up to stay with us for the long weekend and we’re all itching to do something other than sit on a couch, so we’re all hoping the weather holds out long enough for us to consume some food not at home.
My Karl Lagerfeld Belted Wrap Coat here is on sale at Macy’s for 40% off until 2/22! This has been a savior this winter, as it’s chic enough to feel like I’m dressing up for dinner, but heavy and long enough to keep me warm. Since I’m petite, the coat almost spans the length of my body. Obviously, if you are taller than 5’2″, it will hit a bit higher, but it’s still long enough to cover most of the areas that need to be covered when you’re sitting in minus 30º weather.
It has an inner tie and button to help you keep it closed and secure without the sash, and the fur collar is detachable in case fur is not your thing. It is a beige color with pink undertones, and is a statement in and of itself. I paired it here with a black turtleneck sweater, a pair of Lululemon Wunder Unders, and nude pumps.
SHOP MY LOOK:
Karl Lagerfeld Belted Wrap Coat
Lululemon Wunder Under Leggings
Black Cropped Turtleneck Sweater (this is a dupe as I bought mine a few years ago at Boscov’s)
Nude Pointed Toe Pumps (I made this disclaimer when I first posted about these, but, I bought them for an event two years ago and while they looked great for a bit, I wouldn’t buy these again as they have started to peel and are generally not made to withstand semi-regular use. However, at $17 a pair, you can afford to toss these after a few wears).
If there is one silver lining of having to do outdoor dining all day everyday, it’s that I have an excuse to buy more coats. We are so excited to be hosting our friends this weekend and are hoping it doesn’t rain tonight so we can keep our reservation. If not, either way, it will be refreshing to talk to someone other than Sawyer for a few days. We love her, but she doesn’t talk back…most of the time.
xx,
Anna
