Okay, I must admit, I was never a jeggings girl. I’ve never been able to shake the thought of Conan O’Brien sporting a pair from the early days in 2010 (see here for the video), and have always thought they were neither here nor there, a jack of both the denim and legging trade, but master of neither.
So, when one of you asked me for jeggings recommendations based on Instagram, I realized I was treading into uncharted territory. After trying out almost a dozen different brands on Amazon, I’ve narrowed it down to three brands that caught even my judgemental heart by surprise. All three of these picks provide both comfort and style at an affordable price. Jeggings have come a long way in the last decade!
1. Best Jeggings For A Legging-Like Feel – HUEThese are leggings that do a remarkable job of looking like jeans. No, but seriously, I fell asleep in a pair of these on the couch one night (okay, I may have been a little over-served too, but the jeggings helped!). If you really don’t want to wear jeans but need to look like you live in something other than Lululemon leggings, these are answer to all your problems. The button is fake as all hell and there’s no fly or front pockets, but that also contributes to how freaking comfy they are. And, at $38 a pop, you can afford to have this in every color.
2. Best Jeggings For Shaping – Signature By Levi Strauss
While I wouldn’t consider myself curvy, these jeggings have about a million 5-star reviews from my curvy sisters out there that I feel comfortable vouching for their shaping abilities. After trying these on, I thought these felt a bit more structured than the HUE jeggings for a closer feel to real jeans. However, the wide elastic waistband means that they’re still stretchy enough to hug all the right areas without any weird waist gaps regardless of your size. The classic Levi’s denim label on the back is a nice added touch. I wish they’d put some belt loops or a fake button on the elastic waistband, but that’s a small detail and my only real complaint. Most of the colors are $25 or under, which means you can have both your jeggings and your cash moneys.
3. Best Jeggings That Look Like Real Jeans – Democracy
The Democracy jeggings have a real button, real fly, and belt loops! They’re basically jeans with A TON of stretch. These are my picks for the most realistic-looking denim. My advice would be to size one size down as I usually wear a 2 and the waist was too big on me, but the 0 fit perfectly. While they are the most expensive on the list (~$50 depending on the color), they do feel like they’re made of the most substantial fabric out of the three brands.
Not enough visuals for you? Head to my Instagram stories under ‘Highlights’ here if you want to see these babies live in action. Hope you’re all have a great Friday Jr. in the meantime and here’s to having both comfort and style in whatever you choose to wear!
xx,
Anna
