There is no truer representation of my life right now than the picture above. While I am typically a glass-half-full-person, sometimes it’s necessary to acknowledge when the proverbial s*** is hitting the fan. Between our laundry list of homeownership issues that need to be resolved as well as some unexpected personal family matters that have arisen, I am slightly battle-weary from the last few weeks…months…maybe years? It feels like years. And so, I am challenging myself, and all of you, to hold two opposing notions in your head at once: that we can be grateful for all the blessings in our lives, but also frustrated by the inevitable hurdles that life throws at us. Life is a mixture of maybe both. (Couldn’t help myself there.)
But, despite the fact that I have a rapidly-deteriorating sewer line and a mystery window leak that is yet to be resolved, there is always solace in the little things like gold skirts and polka dotted shirts. Even though there are much bigger things happening in my life and the world right now, style is always comforting to turn to because even if my internal life is a bit of a mess, I can always dress, externally, like I’ve got it all together.
I’ve owned this faux leather faux fur-collared jacket from Bebe for 5+ years now, and am amazed at how well it’s held up despite it being faux-everything. While I couldn’t find an exact dupe, I’m linking a very similar style with a detachable fur collar below.
My gold front-zip booties are Ted Baker from many seasons ago and I, for the life of me, cannot find a similar version online that are suede and have a gold front zip. So, I’m linking a pair of ankle boots from Zara with a gold chain accent in the front that I think are equally as cute and would work well with this outfit.
SHOP MY LOOK:
Faux Leather Jacket with Fur Collar (this is a dupe, but I’m loving the fact that the fur is detachable, unlike mine, so you can change up the look)
Banana Republic Metallic Pleated Miniskirt
Polka Dots Puff Sleeve Blouse
Chain Trim Heeled Ankle Boots
Ralph Lauren Beckett Satchel
Happy-almost-the-weekend, guys. Even though it’s been a truncated week, I am more than ready for Friday. Here’s to finding a reason to smile even when the wind is blowing your hair in all the wrong directions.
xx,
Anna
