I can’t tell you the last time I needed to put on a dress and heels, but I’ve decided that on New Year’s Eve, even if it’s just for an hour, I’ll be dressing up for our at-home party for two (three if you count the puppy). Even though our ringing in 2021 looks a little different than ringing in 2020, I’m looking forward to exhaling after a long year. We have plenty to be grateful about, and it is not lost on us how blessed we are to live the life we do.
My satin dress from Express was a Black Friday snag and is quickly becoming a favorite part of my wardrobe, even though I haven’t had a chance to wear it out yet. But, going out these days is overrated, so it’ll make its debut on New Year’s Eve while we’re staying in. It’s on sale right now for a steal, so get it while you can! This is one piece I’m looking forward to wearing out post-pandemic.
I’m holding my Jeffrey Campbell shimmer sandals because I’m a good Asian and don’t wear shoes in the house. For any of you who grew up with Asian parents, I hope you can relate to the feeling of recoiling ever-so-slightly every time you see someone wear their shoes into your home because you know your mother will find you from wherever she is and verbally give it to you.
SHOP MY LOOK:
Express Satin Cowl Neck Maxi Slip Dress
Jeffrey Campbell Angelia Shimmer Sandals (These are the ones I’m holding, and they have a very low heel. Since there are only a few sizes left on Saks Off 5th, I’m linking another pair below that are essentially the same shoes with a higher heel)
Jeffrey Campbell Laura Ankle Strap Sandal
100% Pure Fruit-Pigmented Cocoa Butter Matte Lipstick in Agave (for your midnight kiss!)
I hope that whatever you decide to wear to ring in 2021, that you do it in a way that feels celebratory to you, because despite all that this last year has brought, there are always reasons to celebrate living to see another year.
xx,
Anna
